A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions
Tops $20 Billion in Total Negotiated Spend; Has Saved Clients More
Than $3 Billion
Unit Expands European and Latin American Operations
PLANO, Texas (May 8, 2002) A.T. Kearney, the global management
consulting subsidiary of EDS, today announced eBreviate Internet
auction technology from its A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions unit
has been used to negotiate more than $20 billion in purchases since
its launch in January 2000 and, in the process, saved its clients
more than $3 billion.
The eBreviate auction tool has been used in nearly 2,000 separate
events, spanning more than 650 product and service categories and
more than 23,000 subcategories in dozens of industries. The top
five industry segments using auction technologies are automotive,
net markets, telecommunications,
consumer electronics and consumer-packaged goods.
"Our growth in total negotiated spend is a testament to the
ease-of-use and applicability of our auction technology," said
Tom Slaight, eBreviate co-founder and A.T. Kearney vice president.
"The do-it-yourself adoption of our technology has hit an inflection
point where companies such as Volkswagen are driving more than 20
percent of their spend through it. Our proven processes and methodologies
are embedded in their daily procurement process, driving hard dollar
savings to the bottom-line."
Expanded European Operations
The company also announced a new sales executive for A.T. Kearney
Procurement Solutions in Europe and demonstrated success in reaching
Latin American markets through a relationship with Procura Digital.
A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions continues to build on its market
leadership in Europe. The company named Donna Kenyon to the new
position of general manager, Northern Europe. Kenyon, who has been
a sales executive with eBreviate since 2000, will lead the company's
sales efforts in the Benelux and Scandinavian regions. The Benelux
and Scandinavian regions are increasingly important for A.T. Kearney
Procurement Solutions as the multinational businesses in these regions
are
beginning to embrace eSourcing.
"We are excited to have Donna step up to this new leadership
role. Her multinational experience both as a sourcing professional
and designer of creative solutions will enable clients to identify
and capture accelerated value in the procurement space," said
Jim Pearson, vice president of A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions.
With Kenyon's promotion, the Procurement Solutions unit will open
an office in Brussels to complement other European offices in London,
Paris and Dusseldorf. Prior to eBreviate, Kenyon was the strategic
procurement manager within the research and development department
at Schering Plough in the United States.
Increases Latin American Footprint
eBreviate technology also has been successful in Latin America as
ProcuraDigital, an eSourcing services provider for companies operating
in the region, has transacted more than US$335 million using eBreviate
technology. ProcuraDigital, which uses a contingency based revenue
model and charges clients a fee only if it achieves savings for
them, generated US$47 million in savings for clients such as Grupo
Santander Central Hispano, Johnson & Johnson, Nestlé,
CANTV, Iusacell and Grupo Bimbo since April 2001.
"Our solid results reflect the value of our eSourcing expertise
for companies doing business in Latin America," said Leonard
Boord, CEO of Procura Digital. "The eBreviate technology, a
best-in-breed eSourcing reverse auction tool, has enabled us to
capture a large market share in the region. Top companies have partnered
with ProcuraDigital after recognizing that electronic auctions and
strategic sourcing optimize their sourcing process and generate
rapid savings that have a direct impact on their
bottom line."
The consumer goods, financial and telecommunications sectors have
profited greatly from ProcuraDigital's services, with web-based
auctions and strategic sourcing focused on reducing costs for both
indirect and direct goods including maintenance and transport services,
construction contracts,
high tech equipment and raw materials for food processing.
"We are pleased about the strategic and cross marketing relationship
that ProcuraDigital and A.T. Kearney Procurement Solutions have
formed for the Latin American market," said Joe Raudabaugh,
an A.T. Kearney vice president and head of A.T. Kearney Procurement
Solutions. "A.T. Kearney has achieved tremendous market penetration
in Latin America through traditional strategic sourcing consulting.
Our thriving relationship with ProcuraDigtial now allows us to further
move companies along the sourcing continuum from an outsourcing
environment for strategic sourcing to a full-service
eSourcing solution and then a self-service, sustaining enterprise
solution. ProcuraDigital's success is a success for our eBreviate
technology and team."
