eBreviate Academy Opens: Web-Based
and Live Training for eSourcing Expertise Now Available
Online Lesson Plan Training Offered Along with Classroom Auction-Building
Strategy for Procurement Teams
WALNUT CREEK, California (March 13, 2001) eBreviate, an EDS
company offering the market-leading suite of eSourcing tools, technologies
and services, today announced it has opened eBreviate Academy to
provide web-based and live training for purchasing professionals.
The web-based training modules will be available March 30 via eBreviate's
web site. The Academy's live training for auction building and strategy
expands upon the program currently underway for customers using
eBreviate's newly released 4.0 auction tool.
To date, eBreviate has trained more than 2,000 purchasing professionals
in online auction technology at companies throughout the Americas,
Europe and Asia. Now this expert-led training is moving to the web.
eBreviate Academy web-based training provides anywhere, anytime
learning. Based on the proven concept of just-in-time training,
eBreviate Academy provides access to content that is updated and
ready when the learner needs it. Using a secure, unique login ID
and password,
students learn in a risk-free environment with self-directed Lesson
Plans and quizzes designed to guide them toward increased levels
of eSourcing competency.
eBreviate's web-based training comprises three modules to help students
master key aspects of Internet negotiations. The first is Auction
Building. eBreviate's auction functionality allows users to
build auctions, and this self-teaching unit guides students along
the most important steps. Included is an Overview defining online
auctions, followed by Lesson Plans on Supplier Set-up, Category
Set-up and Sub-category Set-up. Screen shots, FAQ's and quizzes
accompany the Lesson Plans.
The next module - Bidder Training - starts with an Overview
of auction bidding strategies, followed by Lesson Plans on systems
requirements, auction prep, entering bids and reading reports. FAQs,
Quizzes and a Glossary add depth to the student's learning experience.
The third Academy component takes students to eBreviate's online
seminar series to access real-time and archived instructional material.
"Knowledge is power, and self-directed learning is the key
to acquiring the knowledge procurement professionals need to succeed,"
said Carrie Ericson, eBreviate's vice president of operations. "eBreviate
Academy's web-based training takes us another step towards our goal
of providing the most complete assortment of eSourcing tools, technologies
and services."
The rapid adoption of licensed self-service auctions means that
purchasing teams everywhere need the auction building skills eBreviate's
eSourcing Managers can provide. Academy training brings eBreviate
eSourcing Managers together with customers in a classroom setting
where both auction-building technical processes and strategies are
covered, including quality control, sourcing negotiations, supplier
communications, and auction ethics. Students work through real life
case studies designed to give them experience with examples they
are likely to face on their own.
