eBreviate Releases New Self-Service
Online Auction Software
Unique Version 4.0 Set-up Wizard Addresses Market Demand by Enabling
Procurement Managers to Build Intuitive Auctions Directly from Desktops
Auction Spend of Over $1.3 billion Already Facilitated through
Self-Service
WALNUT CREEK, California (February 1, 2001) eBreviate, an
EDS company offering a market-leading suite of eSourcing tools,
technologies and services, today announced the release of the company's
new Auction 4.0 software that features industry-leading self-service
functionality.
The new release addresses rapidly expanding customer demand for
auction software that allows buyers to create their own Internet
negotiations to take advantage of eBreviate's Total Cost auction
capability. "Once again, eBreviate is demonstrating market
leadership by responding to the needs of procurement professionals,"
said Sarah Pfaff, executive vice president of sales, marketing and
strategy at eBreviate. "By training their own personnel to
conduct supplier negotiation events, our customers are now able
to further reduce the time and money they spend on their strategic
sourcing initiatives."
According to a current equity research report from Lehman Brothers,
global 1000 companies are increasingly asking for more self-service
software. Patrick Walravens, vice president of research at Lehman
Brothers, and author of the report, said, "Purchasing professionals
want access to a set of tools that empower them to conduct auctions
on their own. Moreover, corporations want to distribute these auction
tools throughout their organizations and make their use part of
standard business practice."
The Auction 4.0 software introduces the industry's first Auction
Setup Wizard (dubbed the eSourcerer). Buyers using 4.0 can now easily
create a wide range of Internet negotiations, from
complex multi-language, multi-currency, total cost downward auctions,
to simple price-only auctions. They work at their own pace through
a straightforward question and answer process where the eSourcerer
gathers the content necessary to accurately build an auction. The
eSourcerer can also be used as an online "expert" to answer
context-specific questions users may have while building or transacting
their auctions.
Self-service 4.0 incorporates default options that help new users
customize their auction set-up much faster. It also offers new services
that permit users to validate their data more efficiently, make
corrections quickly and easily and track their auction-building
activity. Additional functionality debuting
with the release of 4.0 includes dynamic messaging capability along
with enhanced auction activity reporting tools. 4.0 brings with
it a complete re-design of the software's look and feel with more
intuitive interfaces, a new color scheme and simplified navigation.
eBreviate, a pioneer in auction functionality, had already facilitated
self-service Internet negotiations across more than 800 buying events
that produced an average savings of 11% on a spend of more than
$1.3 billion. eBreviate's self-service customers found they could
easily conduct their own negotiations with more than 600 suppliers.
The cost and time-savings results, along with strong customer acceptance,
convinced the company to release Auction software 4.0 with enhanced
self-service functionality.
Auction 4.0 software functionality will be available to eBreviate's
channel partners, including 2Source, a new global strategic alliance
involving A.T. Kearney, EDS E.solutions and i2 Technologies, Inc.
(NASDAQ: ITWO). 2Source offers bundled solutions of strategic sourcing
and procurement services, powered by i2 technology and content.
