with $233 Million in Spend and Customer Savings of up to 35% from
2400 Supplier Bids
eSourcing Leader Ending First Year with Over 110 Customer Events
and $3 Billion in Spend
WALNUT CREEK, California (November 15, 2000) eBreviate, an
EDS company offering the market-leading suite of eSourcing tools,
technologies and services, today announced that it had recorded
its best month ever of online auctions and eRFPs, finishing with
26 eNegotiations covering 232 individual product
sub-categories for the month of October, 2000; an average of more
than one event per business day of the month. Total spend topped
$233 million and represented bidding activity from over 130 suppliers
around the world.
eBreviate's strong October enabled the company to surpass its goal
of enabling more than 110 eAuctions and eRFPs, totaling over $3
billion in customer spend. These transactions resulted in an average
customer savings of 14%, or $420 million in total. eBreviate's aggressive
growth strategy is proving to be on course as its eNegotiation solutions
and eRFP tools sales for the month of October were on behalf of
some of the world's largest corporations, spanning many different
industries and
encompassing a wide variety of direct and indirect goods and services.
Highlights of materials in eBreviate's October auction and eRFP
activity include:
- In-flight entertainment centers
for worldwide carrier Delta Airlines
- Cranes and hoists for global engineering,
construction, and sourcing firm Fluor Daniel
- Product packaging for global consumer
products company Reckitt Benckiser
- Capacitors and regulators for diversified
energy company Entergy
- Wooden pallets for one of the world's
largest producers of glass and building materials, Saint-Gobain
France
eBreviate saved two customers over
35% each: one for a petroleum equipment firm and the other for a
pharmaceutical company. A single auction yielded over $12 million
in savings for a major automobile manufacturer. Over 2,400 bids
were submitted from 131 suppliers.
eBreviate's eAuctions and eRFPs are part of the company's integrated
suite of eSourcing tools and technologies designed to take the time,
cost, and inefficiencies out of corporate buying. "We believe
eBreviate's results place us on a much faster growth curve than
our chief competitor, FreeMarkets, at equivalent times in our companies'
histories," said Sarah Pfaff, executive vice president of sales,
marketing and strategy at eBreviate. "We're poised to achieve
even greater results as we roll out our newest line of sourcing
management products," she said.
