EDS eBreviate Moves Headquarters
to Walnut Creek For Advantages of Booming East Bay Economy
eSourcing Business Expands Employee And Training Facilities By
Relocating From San Francisco
WALNUT CREEK, California (June 14, 2000) EDS' eSourcing business,
eBreviate, a leading provider of Web-based tools to power corporate
procurement over the Internet, today announced the move of corporate
headquarters to Walnut Creek, California. In an effort to make room
for its rapidly
expanding workforce and take advantage of the exploding East Bay
hi-tech economy, eBreviate is relocating from its current San Francisco
location to an 8,600 square-foot facility in the Shadelands Business
Park. The company is confident this move will benefit customers
and employees alike, as increased space and easy East Bay access
for commuters will allow eBreviate to more effectively manage customer
eSourcing, training and corporate e-procurement events.
"We're excited that this move, along with our anticipated expansion
into the adjacent 8,600 square-foot unit within the next six months,
will accommodate our immediate growth plans," said Niul Burton,
president of eBreviate. "This dedicated environment will provide
us the space we need to create an e-sourcing technology operations
center,' as well as providing a convenient and cost-effective alternative
for our East Bay and surrounding resident employees as the company
grows."
The move comes at a time when technology companies are moving from
Silicon Valley and San Francisco to the East Bay to take advantage
of the strong and resilient Contra Costa County
economy. A recent report by the Economic Development Alliance for
Business (EDAB) reports that the East Bay is already home to 3,300
hi-tech firms employing 129,000 people, of which almost half are
in the software industry. The report goes on to say that the East
Bay will remain at the "forefront of the economy of the new
millennium."
"We really look forward to eBreviate being located in Walnut
Creek," said Jay Hoyer, president of the Walnut Creek Chamber
of Commerce. Having just concluded hosting the well-attended Walnut
Creek Technology Fair, Hoyer sees this as a trend in his community.
"eBreviate will join a wide array of hi-tech businesses already
here, as Walnut Creek is moving very rapidly into the technology
frontier."
Charlie Abrams, mayor of Walnut Creek, echoed the enthusiasm expressed
by Hoyer. "I'm excited that businesses like eBreviate are choosing
to join us in Walnut Creek," he said, to join in "the
good quality of life we've got out here."
The facility, located at 2125 Oak Grove Road, near the entrance
to Mt. Diablo State Park, will house eBreviate's executive team,
the marketing, product development and operations groups, as well
as the operations center to support a rapidly expanding workforce
that is expected to grow to 120 by the end of the year. At the business
park's center stands a farming museum, contained in a 1903 farmhouse,
recalling the agricultural history of the region.
