EDS CoNext's eBreviate Signs e-Business
Strategic Licensing Agreement with Delano
Delano e-Business Interaction Suite Powers eBreviate's new eRFP
Tool
CHICAGO, Illinois and TORONTO, Ontario (May 8, 2000) EDS
CoNext's eBreviate eSourcing technologies business unit and Delano
Technology Corporation (NASDAQ: DTEC), a leading
provider of interaction-based e-business solutions for the enterprise,
today announced the signing of a three-year strategic technology
licensing agreement for eBreviate to utilize Delano's solutions
to manage interactions on its B2B Internet site.
In addition to an up front licensing fee for the Delanoª e-Business
Interaction Suiteª and Delano
Customer Velocityª, Delano will receive royalty and license revenues
from eBreviate based on a
percentage of revenue generated by interactions using Delano's e-business
solutions.
"As a leader in the eSourcing market, eBreviate is not only
a great customer for Delano, but also a strategic partner that will
enable us to accelerate our penetration of key vertical and global
markets through eBreviate's market position and its business unit
relationship with EDS CoNext," said John Foresi, president
and CEO of Delano. "eBreviate's use of our technology as an
integral part of its eSourcing solutions, clearly demonstrates the
strategic value of our products in facilitating the B2B interactions
that drive e-commerce."
"Delano's e-business solutions allow us to rapidly expand our
advanced Internet-powered eSourcing capabilities, including our
new eRFP tool," said Niul Burton, president of CoNext's eBreviate
business unit. "While eBreviate is currently using the Delano
e-Business Interaction Suite and Customer Velocity to dynamically
generate, deploy, and handle eRFPs, eRFIs, and eSurveys for our
customers, the unlimited nature of this agreement will enable us
to fully integrate additional Delano applications into future buyer
and supplier interactions."
On behalf of a tier one international automotive supplier, eBreviate
recently deployed its eRFP tool-the eSourcing industry's first multi-language
application to automate complex interactions relating to eRFIs and
eRFPs.
eBreviate provides Web-based solutions that enable corporations
to take the time, cost and inefficiencies out of buying. Already
one of the most active downward auction providers, eBreviate's total-cost
Internet auctions have handled single auction transaction sizes
ranging from US$1 million
to US$200 million. eBreviate's clients include industry leading
corporations in manufacturing, consumer goods, information technology,
electronics, energy, healthcare, automotive, telecommunications
and utilities across Europe and North America.
The eRFP product, which was developed using Delano's e-business
platform and Customer Velocity application suite, allows procurement
professionals to deploy Web-based RFIs and RFPs in a secure, convenient,
password-protected Internet environment. Form builder technology
in a friendly browser-based interface, as well as templates and
question libraries, facilitate the rapid development of supplier
information and bid request forms. Buyers can post files, such as
product specifications or drawings, for suppliers to download and
review. On the supplier side, multiple users can access the eRFI
or eRFP to complete sections and revisit forms during the response
process. Security, authentication, multiple-logins and multi-save
functionality means supplier responses are held confidentially and
buyers don't have access to responses still in progress.
The eRFP's powerful communication management capabilities also allow
for automated messaging with suppliers, freeing buyers to focus
on business and financial issues rather than administration. Once
an eRFI or eRFP is created, a buyer can set up and automate a predefined
communication plan with suppliers.
At the core of Delano's enterprise e-business solution is the Delano
e-Business Interaction Suite, a software platform for rapidly deploying
diverse e-business applications that automate business processes
and manage interactions between a company and its customers, partners,
suppliers, and employees.
Built on the Delano platform, Customer Velocity is the first eCRM
application suite to fully integrate e-marketing and e-service applications,
including marketing campaigns, surveys, newsletters, e-mail response
management, and a web-based interaction portal. Customer Velocity
combines the flexibility of an e-business platform with the speed-to-market
of a complete e-business application suite. Delano's speed of deployment,
coupled with the strategic breadth of its solution, enables
companies to quickly increase revenue, reduce costs, and improve
customer satisfaction and loyalty.
