Analyst

Analysts bring strong business acumen, rooted in sophisticated analytics training, to various client projects across a broad range of management consulting engagements. While every project is different, the Analytics team consistently delivers high-impact, tangible results. By building a foundation with impactful data behind each client, we are able to focus our thinking in the areas of greatest importance and touch the true drivers of change. Analyst pairs in-depth analysis, custom tools, and sophisticated modeling with strategic thinking to produce results that routinely exceed client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical rigor and technical expertise on client engagements and internal projects
  • Learn and deploy supply chain management and sourcing techniques
  • Understand clients' business needs and assist in developing accurate solutions
  • Map where the information lies within complex corporations and work with our clients to gain access to the data
  • Interview client contacts to validate data, collect qualitative information and gain client insight
  • Analyze, manipulate, cleanse and validate data from a variety of data sources and platforms
  • Use PowerPoint to document project findings, business requirements, data dictionaries
  • Present work to internal and client teams

Qualifications and Required Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree – cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher
  • Experience in Excel, Access and/or SQL Server
  • Strong organizational, verbal communication and writing skills
    • Analysts work in team environments with other Analysts, team members and clients from all levels of the organization, with varying backgrounds
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and work ethic
    • Analysts are consistently faced with new challenges, requiring them to utilize managerial, educational and other resources

We currently have openings in North America in New York, Chicago, Dallas, and the Washington, DC area. This position involves 80% travel. Analysts typically work at the client site Monday through Thursday and in an A.T. Kearney office on Fridays.

  • Lay out an analytical framework and plan to execute using appropriate tools
  • Develop recommendations and quantify their impact
  • Present work to internal and client teams

Qualifications and Required Experience

  • Minimum Master's degree, with preference in Statistics, Econometrics, Quantitative Methods, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain or Logistics
  • 3 – 5 years of relevant industry experience or background as a consultant with a top-tier firm
  • Strong analytical skills, combined with working knowledge of developing and understanding statistical, optimization or other types of models and tools used to solve market facing business problems
  • Ability to structure, develop and interpret models
  • Experience with large-scale databases preferred (e.g., MS SQL Server, Oracle, Taradata or other)  and various querying tools (e.g., SQL BI Development Studio)
  • Experience working with statistical tools preferred (e.g., SPSS, SAS, JMP, etc.)
  • Understanding and experience working with optimization tools preferred (e.g., ILOG, Solver, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently or with little direction
  • Strong oral and written communication skills:
    • Ability to communicate with senior management and executives
      Capable of building client relationships at all levels
      Experience developing and delivering presentations

Sourcing Associate

Sourcing Associate coaches a customer category team through the strategic sourcing process, from development of the strategy and approach through execution of an RFI/P campaign. Additionally, associates are responsible for pre-event marketing and training communications with customer stakeholders and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of the overall strategy for leveraging the sourcing process, including RFI/P development and execution, on-line bidding, supplier response analysis and negotiation
  • Drive the category team to provide timely, high-quality data deliverables
  • Conduct supplier orientation and training on the sourcing process
  • Create RFPs, auctions and practice auctions
  • Work with teams to strategize how to best use e-sourcing tools within the context of their ongoing commodity strategies
  • Manage on-site auctions, validating final bids and generating and distributing RFP and auction reports
  • Conduct analysis to support benefits estimation & documentation

Qualifications and Required Experience

  • Master's degree with a supply management concentration
  • 3 to 5 years full-time relevant experience in addition to an MBA or other post-graduate degree
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Sourcing Manager

Sourcing Manager leads client category teams through the strategic sourcing process, from development of the strategy and approach through execution of an RFI/P, an auction or traditional negotiation and post-negotiation follow up. Additional responsibilities include project marketing and training communications with client stakeholders and suppliers and the ability to gather and analyze data to identify sourcing practice improvements, cost savings opportunities, operations and technology improvements, as well as conduct benchmarking and best-practices studies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic sourcing consulting to clients including development of the spend cube, creation of the RFI/P and guidance in the negotiation process
  • Lead the client through the strategic sourcing process for one or more categories, including development of the category profile through final negotiations
  • Execute against specified delivery models for both e-enabled sourcing and traditional strategic sourcing methods
  • Drive the category team to provide timely, high-quality data deliverables
  • Lead the client category team in developing a supplier communications plan in support of sourcing strategy
  • Conduct analysis to support benefits estimation and documentation
  • Document category experience by developing formalized Intellectual Capital documents in order to continuously increase the breadth of knowledge available within the firm

Qualifications and Required Experience

  • Master's degree with a supply management concentration.
  • 5 to 7 years of full-time strategic sourcing experience in addition to an MBA
  • Excellent interpersonal and group facilitation skills
  • Demonstrated success leading projects and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Enjoy working with teams and are committed to meeting/exceeding client objective
  • Proficiency in Internet technology and Excel/Access skills is required
